KMSR Camping Trip

by Chris G.

This weekend we went camping at KMSR in Stokes State Forest. On Saturday, we went to Shawnee Mountain to ski and snowboard. Most of the Scouts had lessons in the morning. I had ski lessons at 11:45 AM for about one and a half hours. We split into groups and had our lessons. I got to ride the ski lift and the magic carpet. I even had fun when I fell and slid down the mountain. A few times, I made it down without falling and it felt like I was going really fast.

After skiing, we went back to camp and had a spaghetti supper made by the adults. My dad did a lot of the cooking. I think this camping trip was really good and I'd like to do it again.

Cabin Camping Trip and Skiing

by Ryan J.

On the cabin camping trip there was a load of stuff to do like skiing and snowboarding. A majority of the people who went did skiing. All the beginners went to the lesson and had a rough time mostly on turning and not falling. After the lesson everyone went on to the beginners slope and unfortunately someone got hurt (Ryan J.), just on time when it gets to be fun. But everyone still had a lot of fun. Oh, and Mark G. went on the triple diamond slope.

The cabin was a little old but the fireplace didn't bother anyone that was cold. The beds were pretty comfortable. But the cabin was still old and a little broken. There was also one more thing nobody complained about, the Comfort Center. As far as restrooms go, they were clean and had a heating lamp.

KMSR Cabin Camping and Skiing Trip

by Benjamin A.

We all met at the church on a cold January night. We were just getting prepared for the KMSR cabin camping trip and I was going to drive with Mr. G., Chris, and Nick. We all left about 6:00 clock. When we got on the road we figured it would take about an hour to get there. That was what we figured. About forty-five minutes into the trip we got lost and used OnStar to get to the cabin. About half an hour later we got there. We missed all of the setting up.

When we got there we played a little bit of poker and finally went to bed. The next morning we got up really early to go to the skiing mountains and left at about 8:00 clock. On the drive to get to the skiing place we surprisingly did not get lost. When we got there we distributed the skiing tickets and packages. I went against the majority when choosing what to do; I went snowboarding with about another five people. I had only snowboarded once before and it was in Montana. I was horrible. I fell down almost every time that I went down the mountain (that was because I had trouble stopping!). That was not the worst thing that happened that weekend though. Ryan J. fell down and got run over by a passing snowboarder that did not even stop. As a result the paramedics carried him away.

At about three o'clock we went back to the cabin. When we got there, there was a roaring fire. There we had dinner (which the parents made); it was exceptional. After that we went to bed. The next morning we got up, cleaned up, ate breakfast, and left. That was a good camping trip.
